Ethiopia baseline water stress

This dataset measures relative water demand. Higher values indicate more competition among users. The dataset has a resolution of 0.05 pixels about 5000 metres ( referenced 2023) The baseline water stress (BWS) layer, developed as part of WRI's Aqueduct Water Risk Atlas, measures the ratio of total water withdrawals relative to the annual available renewable surface water supplies. BWS serves as a good proxy for water-related challenges more broadly, given that areas of higher water stress will likely be subject to higher depletion of surface and groundwater resources and more competition amongst users, as well as the associated impacts on water quality and other ecosystem services. Watersheds with high baseline water stress may warrant greater need to take appropriate action to respond to watershed risks. A long time series of supply (1950–2010) was used to reduce the effect of multi-year climate cycles and ignore complexities of short-term water storage (e.g., dams, floodplains) for which global operational data are nonexistent. Baseline water stress thus measures chronic stress rather than drought stress. Watersheds with less than 0.012 m/m2 /year of withdrawal and 0.03 m/m2 /year of available blue water were masked as “arid and low water use” since watersheds with low values were more prone to error in the estimates of baseline water stress. Additionally, although current use in such catchments is low, any new withdrawals could easily push them into higher stress categories.

Nepal Flood 2026 Flood Affected Area, Bhote Koshi and Trishuli

OpenStreetMap and Overture Maps vector layers for the area flooded in the 2026 Bhote Koshi and Trishuli flood in Nepal, and the ground immediately around it. The area of interest is the observed flood extent of 27 August 2026 widened by 200 metres. The extent itself was mapped from drone, Landsat, PlanetScope and Sentinel imagery and is published here as its own resource, so the water line can be separated from the margin around it. That margin brings in buildings and roads beside the water, so a feature being in this dataset is not evidence that it was flooded or damaged. Clip to the Flood Extent resource when you need figures for the water itself. The area follows the river from Rasuwagadhi to the Narayani confluence, across Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces and the districts of Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha and Chitawan. Every layer holds what is standing and what has been lost, so buildings and roads do not vanish from a download once mappers record them as destroyed. `status` says Standing, Damaged or Destroyed, and the Destroyed and Damaged Features layer gathers everything marked destroyed or damaged in one place. Layers are rebuilt straight from OpenStreetMap through the day, so they carry volunteer work as it lands. Buildings, schools, health facilities and points of interest also come in an Overture version, which fuses Microsoft, Google and OpenStreetMap and reaches ground volunteers have not mapped yet. Overture follows its own release cycle and will not show mapping done during this response, so for damage work prefer the OpenStreetMap layers and use Overture where their coverage is thin. Mapping task boundaries from the Tasking Manager campaign show where volunteers are being asked to map. The bridge damage assessment is reported from the ground by volunteers and lists road bridges with their condition after the flood, deck length where measured, and administrative codes from the same boundaries as the other layers. For the wider 1 km river corridor under assessment, use Nepal Flood 2026 River Corridor. AI-scored building damage from post-event imagery is published separately as Nepal Flood 2026: fAIr Damage Assessment. Subscribe to the dataset for updates as mapping progresses. - Source: OpenStreetMap, Overture Maps, NAXA and volunteer field reports - Part of HOT disaster response exports on HDX by HOT

Foundation basin units (Africa) - SDG6 Basin Maps

SDG 6 Foundation Basin Units (SDG6-FBU). The SDG6-FBU is a geo-spatial data layer with spatial information derived from HydroBASIN level 12 (https://www.hydrosheds.org/products/hydrobasins). Each of these small hydrological units (approximately 1 million basins) is named according to the ‘SDG 6 Major Basin’ and ‘SDG 6 Sub-Basin’ classification, with the sub-basins nested within the major basins. **Data publication:** 2025-05-02 **Supplemental Information:** The dataset is included as part of Geo-Spatial Information collected and published in the framework of the AQUASTAT - programme of the Land and Water Division of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. https://www.fao.org/aquastat/ **Citation:** Integrated Monitoring Initiative for SDG 6 (IMI-SDG 6), SDG6 Basin Maps, Foundation Basin Units, Latest update: 31/07/2024. The SDG6-FBU is a geo-spatial data layer with spatial information derived from HydroBASIN level 12 (https://www.hydrosheds.org/products/hydrobasins). Each of these small hydrological units (approximately 1 million basins) maintains attribute information from the following 4 source layers: • FAO (major basins and sub-basins) • TWAP (river basins component) • GRDC (river basins) • WMO (major basins and sub-basins), which allows for backward compatibility to be maintained to each source layer. In addition, each hydrological unit will be named according to the new ‘SDG 6 Major Basin’ and ‘SDG 6 Sub-Basin’ classification, with the sub-basins nested within the major basins. These new SDG 6 classifications will draw initially upon the source layers and then over time be revised based on country information. All improvements of the SDG 6 Basin Map will be conducted in this layer. Wetlands and Streams - State-scale Markets (EcoMarket wetlandsandstreams)

Full Metadata This EnviroAtlas web service supports research and online mapping activities related to EnviroAtlas (https://www.epa.gov/enviroatlas). The layers in this web service are derived from a dataset produced by Forest Trends' Ecosystem Marketplace containing points and polygons depicting the location of market-based programs and projects addressing ecosystem services protection and their enabling conditions in the United States. This dataset contains polygons and points representing the location of markets and projects primarily targeting wetland and stream ecosystem services per USACE RIBITS data and Ecosystem Marketplace research. Polygons for projects represent the project footprint (i.e. land area comprising the project site) or area of primary impact. Polygons for markets represent the entire region that shares market infrastructure and rules, or a larger program encompassing many smaller projects, such as in-lieu fee programs. Points represent the centroids of market and project polygons with the exception of national markets, whose points represent administrative headquarters locations. EnviroAtlas allows the user to interact with a web-based, easy-to-use, mapping application to view and analyze multiple ecosystem services for the conterminous United States as well as detailed metrics for select communities. Additional descriptive information about each attribute in this web service can be found in its associated EnviroAtlas Fact Sheet (https://www.epa.gov/enviroatlas/enviroatlas-fact-sheets).
