About this dataset

Boundary of the Litani River Basin obtained from HydroBASINS (Lerner and Grill, 2013). Litani River Basin is derived from the HydroRIVERS product, which was obtained by delineating river networks from hydrologically corrected elevation data (WWF HydroSHEDS, Lehner et al. 2008; Lehner and Grill 2013). The Litani river, as well as any other river within the HydroRIVERS database, is co-registered to the sub-basin of the HydroBASINS database in which it resides (via a shared ID). Source: The HydroRIVERS product has been developed on behalf of World Wildlife Fund US (WWF), Washington DC, USA, in collaboration with McGill University, Montreal, Canada. Major funding for the underpinning HydroSHEDS project was provided to WWF by Sealed Air Corporation. Citations and acknowledgements of the HydroRIVERS data should be made as follows: Lehner, B., Grill G. (2013): Global river hydrography and network routing: baseline data and new approaches to study the world’s large river systems. Hydrological Processes, 27(15): 2171–2186. Awash River Basin boundary (Ethiopia)

Awash river basin boundary is derived from the HydroBASINS product, which was obtained by delineating drainage basin boundaries from hydrologically corrected elevation data (WWF HydroSHEDS, Lehner et al. 2008; Lehner and Grill 2013) and supported by the topological concept of the Pfafstetter coding system (Verdin & Verdin 1999). Base flow (Litani River Basin, Lebanon - Monthly - 100m)

Base flow calculated for the Litani River Basin area in Lebanon. Base flow (bf) or slow flow is the component of the total flow that is due to groundwater discharge. It mainly occurs during dry months. The calculation of base flow is based on a pixel-based soil water balance model. More information are available in the water accounting report of Litani (FAO and IHE Delft, 2019). **Data publication:** 2019-06-01 **Supplemental Information:** No data value: -9999 Unit: mm/month **Citation:** FAO 2018. Total flow (Litani River Basin, Lebanon - Monthly - 100m)

Total flow calculated over the Litani River Basin area in Lebanon. The total flow (tf) is the sum of surface runoff (sro) and the base flow (bf). More information can be found on the Water Accounting report of Litani (FAO and IHE Delft, 2019). **Data publication:** 2019-06-01 **Supplemental Information:** No data value: -9999 Unit: mm/month **Citation:** FAO 2018. Surface runoff (Litani River Basin, Lebanon - Monthly - 100m)

Surface runoff calculated for the Litani River Basin area. The surface runoff (sro) is the fraction of the effective rainfall that does infiltrate into the soil and contributes to overland flow. More information can be found on the Water Accounting report of Litani (FAO and IHE Delft, 2019). **Data publication:** 2019-06-01 **Supplemental Information:** No data value: -9999 Unit: mm/month **Citation:** FAO 2018.
