This dataset was reported by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg under the Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive. Under article 15, discharges from urban waste water treatment plants have to be monitored to verify compliance with the emission control standards. Member States and Commission have jointly developed technical specifications for such reporting within WISE (Water Reporting System for Europe). Delivery process or content of this obligation overlaps with another reporting obligation (http://rod.eionet.europa.eu/obligations/645). This reporting obligation is an Eionet core data flow Reporting under this obligation is used for EEA Core set of indicators Delivery process is managed by EEA

Measurement stations for the qualitative and quantitative monitoring of groundwater for the 3rd cycle (2015-2020) in relation to the Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC).
Analyses of substances in biota are carried out once per year at selected monitoring stations. Crustacean analyses have been conducted annually in spring since 2019, while fish analyses have been conducted annually in autumn since 2015. The chemicals analysed include priority substances and priority hazardous substances with a tendency to accumulate in biota, in accordance with the Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC) and the Environmental Quality Standards Directive (2008/105/EC). Parameters analysed in fish are identified by the suffix _FISH, and those analysed in crustaceans by the suffix _GAM.
The ecological status of the natural waterbodies is assessed in 5 classes going from 1 to 5 (high, good, moderate, poor, bad). The classification of the ecological status is based on the biological quality elements, physico-chemical quality elements and in some cases also the hydromorphological quality elements. Analysis of watchlist substances in surface waters are carried out at a frequency of 4 times per year at two representatif surveillance stations in Luxembourg. The chemicals included in the watchlist are determined on a EU level and include chemicals that potentially pose a significant risk to the aquatic environment but for which insufficient data exist to determine the actual risk posed by these substances. The first watchlist (EU 2015/495; https://eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/dec_impl/2015/495/oj) was analysed from January 2016 until April 2018.
