✦ Suggested by OrionAIThe area available for cultivation is the area that is not damaged and not subject to access restrictions. The damaged area is assessed based on the baseline cropland dataset for 2023, and the cropland damage assessment as of 30 March 2025 by FAO and UNOSAT. The area accessible is determined by excluding the so-called “no-go” areas in place (OCHA, April 2025), and the areas subject to evacuation orders as of 12 April 2025. **Data creation:** 2025-04-30 **Supplemental Information:** More information can be found at https://openknowledge.fao.org/handle/20.500.14283/cd5442en **Contact points:** Resource Contact: [Matieu Henry](mailto:Matieu.Henry@fao.org) Metadata Contact: [Geospatial Unit](mailto:gis-manager@fao.org) **Data lineage:** Land availability for cultivation was assessed using two datasets: (1) the status of damaged cropland from UNOSAT as of March 2025, which includes both damaged and non-damaged areas, and (2) non-accessible areas, comprising (a) no-go zones and (b) areas under evacuation orders, based on OCHA data as of April 2025. The cropland damage status was derived from Sentinel-2 imagery, using data from March 2018 to 2024 as a baseline for comparison with March 2025 to conduct cropland change analysis. The data was classified by accessibility at the governorate level and includes information on the extent of cropland damage. **Resource constraints:** This work is made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC-BY-4.0) **Online resources:** Download: Land availability for cultivation (Gaza, Palestine - April 2025) - Shapefile Download: Gaza Strip damage assessments as of April 2025 (Excel tables) Fact-sheet: Land availability for cultivation in the Gaza Strip as of April 2025
Using multi-source satellite imagery and baseline agricultural data, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in collaboration with the United Nations Satellite Centre (UNOSAT), conducted an assessment of agricultural land and related facilities availability in the Gaza Strip following the recent conflict escalation. The analysis identified areas not damaged and not subject to access restrictions, integrating results from assessments of cropland, greenhouses, agricultural wells, and infrastructure. Accessibility was determined by excluding areas with confirmed military presence as of 15 October 2025, providing a comprehensive overview of the agricultural areas and facilities that remain available for use. **Data creation:** 2025-10-31 **Supplemental Information:** More information can be found at https://openknowledge.fao.org/handle/20.500.14283/cd7340en **Contact points:** Resource Contact: [Matieu Henry](mailto:Matieu.Henry@fao.org) Metadata Contact: [Geospatial Unit](mailto:gis-manager@fao.org) **Data lineage:** Agricultural land and related facilities availability were assessed using four datasets: (1) the status of damaged cropland from FAO and UNOSAT as of 28 September 2025 (2) the status of damaged greenhouses from FAO and UNOSAT as of 5 October 2025 (3) the status of damaged agricultural wells and agricultural infrastructures from FAO as of 26 September 2025, and (4) non-accessible areas, defined as those with military presence, based on OCHA data as of 15 October 2025. The assessment identified areas that were not damaged and not subject to access restrictions. **Resource constraints:** This work is made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC-BY-4.0) **Online resources:** Download: Agricultural land and related facilities availability (Gaza, Palestine - October 2025) Download: Gaza Strip damage assessments as of October 2025 (Excel tables) Fact-sheet: Agricultural land and related facilities availability (Gaza, Palestine - October 2025)
Damage to cropland due to the conflict in Gaza as of 28 September 2025. A reduction in cropland greenness was considered as an abrupt change and an indication of damage. The severity of the impact on cropland was determined by calculating the percentage and hectares of the damaged area by governorate. The map depicts the severity of damage in localized areas. In each tile (40 ha) the area of damaged cropland was divided by the total cropland area. **Data creation:** 2025-10-31 **Supplemental Information:** The disaggregated datasets for each cropland category are also available: Damage to field crops (Gaza, Palestine - September 2025) Damage to tree horticultures (Gaza, Palestine - September 2025) Damage to vegetables land (Gaza, Palestine - September 2025) More information on the damage to cropland and cropland categories can be found in the following fact-sheets: - Damage to cropland due to the conflict in the Gaza Strip as of 28 September 2025 - Damage to cropland categories due to the conflict in the Gaza Strip as of September 2025 **Contact points:** Resource Contact: [Matieu Henry](mailto:Matieu.Henry@fao.org) Metadata Contact: [Geospatial Unit](mailto:gis-manager@fao.org) **Data lineage:** A cropland mask was prepared using very high-resolution satellite data from SPOT and Pléiades, and high-resolution data from Sentinel-2 to analyze the damage to cropland. Sentinel-2 data from the month of September from 2017 to 2023 was used as a baseline for comparison with September 2025 data to conduct cropland change analysis of the cropland mask area. **Resource constraints:** This work is made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC-BY-4.0) **Online resources:** Download: Damage to cropland (Gaza, Palestine - September 2025) Download: Gaza Strip damage assessments as of October 2025 (Excel tables) Fact-sheet: Damage to cropland due to the conflict in the Gaza Strip as of 28 September 2025
