Comprised of data pertaining to protected trees of the Group, Woodland, and Area Categories. The Group category is used where the group’s overall impact and quality merits protection. The Woodland Category is used to safeguard a woodland as a whole. The Area Category is used to protect individual trees dispersed over an area, and only protects those trees which were standing at the time the Order was made. The data includes the title and number of the Order, as well as including the feature reference on the map of the original Order, and as described within the first schedule of the Order.
This GIS layer represents the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) districts in Durham County, North Carolina. This layer is part of an original dataset provided and maintained by Durham City/County GIS Services and Durham County EMS. Updated and exported to 911 for CAD infrequently as needed.
Conservation areas are those parts of the district which have been recognised as having a special architectural or historic interest which is worthy of preservation and enhancement. When considering planning applications for developments within them, a duty is placed on the local planning authority to pay special attention to the desirability of preserving or enhancing the character or appearance of the conservation area.
A Tree Preservation Order is an order made by a local planning authority in England to protect specific trees, groups of trees or woodlands in the interests of amenity. An Order prohibits the cutting down, topping, lopping, uprooting, wilful damage or wilful destruction of trees without the local planning authority’s written consent. If consent is given, it can be subject to conditions which have to be followed. In the Secretary of State’s view, cutting roots is also a prohibited activity and requires the authority’s consent.
Fire Districts are determined based on the estimated shortest travel time from one of Durham's fire stations to the given physical address. This map layer visualizes the districts, indicating the boundary lines between neighboring districts. As new streets or fire stations are added, or traffic pattern changes occur, fire district boundaries shift to accommodate changes in estimated travel time for emergency response units. The data is maintained and regularly updated by the City of Durham Fire Department to ensure accuracy and reliability.
