Introducing OrionAI 1.0
OrionAI now has a version number and public release notes. Here is what it does today across Answers, Map Studio, forms and dashboards, and how we will tell you about every change from here on.
OrionAI is the assistant built into OrionGIS. Today we are giving it a version number, 1.0.0, and starting public release notes for it and for every other OrionGIS service.
#One assistant, across the platform
OrionAI is not a chatbot bolted onto a map. It works where you work:
- In Answers, you ask a question about a place in plain language. OrionAI plans the analysis, runs it on the catalogue and your data, and returns a map, the steps it took and a dataset you can keep.
- In Map Studio, it works on the map you have open: it finds and adds data, styles layers and runs processing tools.
- In Forms, it drafts a survey from a sentence and revises your draft when you tell it what to change.
- In Dashboards, it answers questions about your submissions with figures calculated from the data itself.
Every answer shows its sources, so you can check the result rather than take it on trust.
#Release notes for every service
From today, each OrionGIS service has its own version number and its own release notes:
- OrionAI
- the OrionGIS workspace
- Map Studio
- OrionForms
- OrionInsights
- Orion Collect
Every release lists what changed. Larger releases also get a post here. The documentation is updated with each release, so it always describes what you see.

#What's next
We are working on making OrionAI understand more of what you are looking at on each page, so you can ask about the form, map or dashboard in front of you without describing it. We will announce it here when it ships.
