OrionGIS is operated by Orion Terrametrics Africa Limited, Mukhtar Dadah Street, GMC Mansion, Nairobi, Kenya (“Orion”, “we”). This page explains what personal data the platform handles and which cookies it sets. We handle personal data in line with Kenya’s Data Protection Act, 2019, and — for visitors in the European Economic Area and the UK — the GDPR.
Cookies
Essential cookies are required for the platform to work and don’t need consent. Analytics cookies are optional: they are only set, and Google Analytics is only loaded, after you press Accept analytics. You can change your mind at any time.

When analytics is on we send Google Analytics the pages you view, what you search for, which platform actions you complete (for example creating a map), your browser and device type and approximate location. We turn off advertising features and ad personalisation, and we never send your name, e-mail address or username. If you decline, none of this is collected.
Personal data we handle
- Account details — username, e-mail, name and password (stored hashed) when you register.
- Content you add — datasets, maps, projects, forms and the submissions collected through them. This belongs to you and your organisation; you control who can see it.
- Messages — what you send through the contact, demo-request and support forms, used only to reply to you.
- Technical data — standard server logs (IP address, browser, requested page) kept for security and reliability.
Who else receives data
Google (Analytics, only with your consent); our e-mail delivery provider (to send verification and notification e-mails); and the open map-tile providers that draw basemaps in your browser (for example CARTO, OpenStreetMap and Esri), which necessarily see your IP address when a map loads. We do not sell personal data.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. If you are unhappy with our response you may complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (Kenya) or your local data protection authority.
