“Vegetation change around Novo Progresso in the Brazilian Amazon between 2019 and 2024”
This map compares vegetation greenness (NDVI) around Novo Progresso in the dry seasons of 2019 and 2024, using Sentinel-2 satellite imagery. Over the wider area around the town (about 17,200 km², read at 70 m cells), vegetation declined on roughly 2,920 km² (17%) and improved on only 178 km² (1%), with the rest stable; the average change was a small drop of 0.06 NDVI units.
