About this dataset

The bypass dataset consists of bypass permissions and bypass areas. Bypass permits show geographically the places where the Coastal Directorate has granted permission for bypass in connection with the administration of Section 16b of the Coastal Protection Act. Bypass areas show the geographical areas where sediment may be placed in connection with a bypass permit.

Coastal Protection Plants is a dataset showing coastal protection structures in Denmark. Coastal protection facilities contain the following types of facilities: • Construction work • Wavebreaker • Boat and bath bridges (updated until 1998) • Dige • Div. Structures • Steak • Artificial reefs (updated until 1998) • Construction (updated until 1998) • Sand feeding • Slope protection • Slope protection unmeasured • Row of stones • T groyne • Emissions (updated until 1998) • Outer mole Data does not follow the INPSIRE data model.

Seabed Sediment Map of Denmark

The Seabed sediment map, which is updated in 2020, shows the spatial distribution of the seabed sediments in the Danish waters. The given sediment classification represents the major sediment type of the upper 0.5 m of the seabed. Each sediment class is defined based on the specific grain size distribution. However, till is a mixed sediment of clay, sand and gravel, and sedimentary rocks express the presence of deposits with an age of several million years and different histories. Due to the uneven data distribution, the classifications are based on interpolations between data points together with the knowledge of the geological history the water depths and seabed morphology. Furthermore, available biological information (distribution of algae, eelgrass, mussel beds etc.) has been included as background information.

Oil and gas field boundaries

The data set contains areas with oil and gas deposits to which permits under Section 5(1) of the Underground Resources Exploitation Act have been extended for the purpose of abstraction. The dataset is updated ad hoc and exists as a shape file with polygons. The boundaries of contractually defined geographical coordinates based on ED 50. The dataset is projected in UTM zone 32N based on ED 50. Further information on the oil and gas deposits can be found in the Danish Energy Agency's annual reports on "Denmark's oil and gas production and other uses of the subsoil".
