LoRaWAN is a low power wide area network specification for wireless battery-powered systems in a regional, national or global network. The Things Network (TTN) is a community-based initiative to build an energy-saving, wide-range network based on LoRaWAN gateways for the Internet of Things. Volunteers are responsible for the provision, construction and support of gateways. These transmit long-range radio signals from energy-saving sensors to a control center via the Internet. There, the signals (e.g. measurement data, such as electricity or water meters) are further processed and forwarded to defined receivers.
