About this dataset

# Saint Vincent and the Grenadines La Soufriere Volcano: Damage Proxy Maps, Apr 2021 The Advanced Rapid Imaging and Analysis (ARIA) team at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Caltech, in collaboration with the Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS), produced these damage proxy maps for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines La Soufriere Volcano (Apr 2021) from synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite images. Each map is a separate ZIP below with its GeoTIFF, a KMZ for Google Earth, the PNG figures and a text file describing how it was made and how to read it. ## Maps in this dataset - **ARIA-SG Damage Proxy Map: Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, La Soufrière Eruption, 18 Apr 2021, v0.8 (Coherence Analysis)** (superseded) - **ARIA-SG Damage Proxy Map: Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, La Soufrière Eruption, 12-18 Apr 2021, v0.8 (Amplitude Analysis)** - **ARIA-SG Damage Proxy Map: Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, La Soufrière Eruption, 12 Apr 2021, v0.8 (Coherence Analysis)** (superseded) - **ARIA-SG Damage Proxy Map: Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, La Soufrière Eruption, 12-18 Apr 2021, v0.8 (Amplitude Analysis)** **More map details and files:**

Documentation

Change detection on synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite images acquired before and after the event. Damage Proxy Maps show significant changes in radar coherence and amplitude; Flood Proxy Maps show areas that changed to standing water. Maps are preliminary and checked against news reports and ground-level imagery where available. This product contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data (2021), processed by ESA and analyzed by the Earth Observatory of Singapore. These are preliminary maps derived from satellite radar and should be used as guidance only. Coloured pixels may include false positives, and their absence does not mean an absence of damage or flooding.
