About this dataset

Fire Hazard Severity Zones (FHSZ) Fire Hazard Severity Zone classes from the map dated September 29, 2023, as adopted on January 31, 2024 and implemented on April 1, 2024 This layer was acquired/downloaded from the CalFire OSFM. Below is the original metadata that came with the layer:   The State Fire Marshal shall classify lands within state responsibility areas into fire hazard severity zones. Each zone shall embrace relatively homogeneous lands and shall be based on fuel loading, slope, fire weather, and other relevant factors present, including areas where winds have been identified by the department as a major cause of wildfire spread.  The California laws and regulations that require Fire Hazard Severity Zones include California Public Resource code 4201-4204 and California Code of Regulations Title 19, Section 2201.  Effective April 1, 2024 this regulatory adoption repeals Section 1280.1 of Title 14 California Code of Regulations and adopts similar regulatory provisions in Section 2201 of Title 19 California Code of Regulations.   A prior version of this file and data was released as part of the data package accompanying the final Public Comment period for Fire Hazard Severity Zones (September 29, 2023).  This previous version and this version are the same geographic representation of Fire Hazard Severity Zones and are now part of the formal regulation as adopted. While under normal workflow any revision to a public data file would get reflected in the filename, in this case the file name remains identical as it is part of the adopted regulation.  The only changes reflect edits to the metadata describing timing of adoption and effective date for the regulation.   Calistoga Revisions (2025) Revisions were made within Calistoga city limits by request of Calistoga City Fire (Jed Matcham). Fire Hazard Severity Zones were expanded to cover all parcels they intersect. Each parcel was assigned the highest severity zone it overlapped with.  Steps taken to update Fire Hazard Severity Zones within Calistoga Fire Hazard Severity Zones within Calistoga City Limits were erased from the original layer downloaded from Calfire.  Join Calistoga Parcels with original FHSZ layer by spatial intersect. If parcel intersects with multiple FHSZs, duplicate parcels with different FHSZ zones exist. Per parcel, only keep parcel with highest severity Dissolve parcel polygons from Calistoga_FHSZ by severity zone. This will combine features that have the same severity zone.  Clip ROW FHSZ Zones within Calistoga (They will be appended back in later). This is done so when I append them to the FHSZ_Erase layer, all polygons within Calistoga end at the city boundaries.   Append Calistoga_FHSZ_Dissolve polygon layer and Calistoga_ROW_Clipped to FHSZ_Erased layer. Merge ROW polygons of the same Fire Hazard Severity Class with Parcel Polygons of the same Fire Hazard Severity Class where they are adjacent.  Cleaned up the SRA / LRA divide to follow the Calistoga City Limits in North central Part of town

Santa Monica Evacuation Zones

Overview This feature service provides detailed geographic data for evacuation zones within the City of Santa Monica. It is designed to support emergency management and public safety operations by clearly identifying areas designated for evacuation in the event of a hazard or emergency. Feature Layers Santa Monica Evacuation Zones: This layer represents the city's evacuation zones categorized by neighborhood and hazard priority areas. It includes proposed evacuation zones and the number of structures or units within each zone, aiding in planning and resource allocation. The layer also contains spatial measurements such as area and boundary lengths, useful for geographic analysis. Geographic Coverage The data specifically covers the City of Santa Monica, California, providing localized evacuation zone information integral to the city's emergency response framework. Use Cases Supporting emergency evacuation planning and coordination efforts. Facilitating hazard risk assessment and prioritization in affected neighborhoods. Assisting public safety agencies in resource distribution and operational readiness.

Historical Fire Management Zones

This dataset shows the boundaries of the province's six fire management zones that existed prior to 2014 in which most forest fires received the same type of response. These management zones were based on: Common forest and forest fire management objectives land use density of values at risk fire load forest ecology The 2014 Wildland Fire Management Strategy moved from a zone-based approach to one where each wildland fire is assessed and receives an appropriate response according to the circumstances and condition of the fire.  Additional DocumentationFire Management Zone - Data Description (PDF)  Fire Management Zone - Documentation (Word)   StatusCompleted: Production of the data has been completed  Maintenance and Update FrequencyAs needed: Data is updated as deemed necessary  ContactAviation, Forest Fire and Emergency ServicesAFFES.GIS@ontario.ca

Drainages

Drainages (watershed subbasins) The subbasin delineations were based off Napa County's prior planning subbasins (https://www.napacounty.gov/DocumentCenter/View/2635/Napa-County-Watershed-Map-PDF).This layer was made by Environmental Science Associates (ESA) as part of Napa County's 2025 Baseline Data Report.  High quality Digital Elevation Model's (DEM) were combined to fully delineate subbasins. The Napa County Streams layer was used to burn streams into the DEM to ensure that subbasin delineations were consistent with the County's streams layer. Raw catchments generated with the ArcGIS Pro hydrology toolset were subsequently merged together as necessary to adhere to original planning drainages. In cases where planning drainages were subdivided in greater detail then was delineated in the raw catchment layer, ESA defined pour points to manually delineate planning drainages using the "Subwatershed Delineation" geoprocessing tool. ESA worked with the County to identify areas requiring additional refinement, and further refined delineation based on a review of the delineation against satellite imagery, Google Earth Street View, and the DEM"s contour/ hillshade.

FIRM Data

The National Flood Hazard Layer (NFHL) data incorporates all Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) databases published by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and any Letters of Map Revision (LOMRs) that have been issued against those databases since their publication date. It is updated on a monthly basis. The FIRM Database is the digital, geospatial version of the flood hazard information shown on the published paper FIRMs. The FIRM Database depicts flood risk information and supporting data used to develop the risk data. The primary risk classifications used are the 1-percent-annual-chance flood event, the 0.2-percent-annual-chance flood event, and areas of minimal flood risk. The FIRM Database is derived from Flood Insurance Studies (FISs), previously published FIRMs, flood hazard analyses performed in support of the FISs and FIRMs, and new mapping data, where available. The FISs and FIRMs are published by FEMA. The NFHL is available as State or US Territory data sets. Each State or Territory data set consists of all FIRM Databases and corresponding LOMRs available on the publication date of the data set. The specification for the horizontal control of FIRM Databases is consistent with those required for mapping at a scale of 1:12,000. This file is georeferenced to the Earth's surface using the Geographic Coordinate System (GCS) and North American Datum of 1983.
