About this dataset

Polygon features coded with comprehensive information related to foot aerial photography image frames collected by Kentucky's Aerial Photography and Elevation Data program (KYAPED) from 2012-2014. Aerial photography related to this data was captured in late winter and early spring as part of a collaborative effort among federal, state and local government agencies as well as educational entities in Kentucky. https://ky.box.com/v/kymartian-image-frames-2012-14

Kentucky 20k Image Grid

This vector dataset contains polygons with hyperlinks accessing 1 meter imagery, by tile,of various years of National Agricultural Imagery Program (NAIP). These tiles are named to correspond with the 20k imagery grid of Kentucky. NAIP acquires digital ortho imagery during the agricultural growing seasons in the continental U.S.. A primary goal of the NAIP program is to enable availabilty of ortho imagery within a year of acquisition. NAIP provides1 meter ground sample distance (GSD) ortho imagery rectified to a horizontal accuracy of within +/- 3 meters of reference digital ortho quarter quads (DOQQS) from the National Digital Ortho Program (NDOP). NAIP imagery can obtain as much as 10% cloud cover per tile. The tiling scheme for the final Kentucky EPPC-OIS-GIS dataset is 20,000 ft x 20,000 ft grid blocks rectified to the Kentucky Single Zone SPCS, US Survey Foot, NAD83

Proposed Water Infrastructure Areas in Kentucky

The purpose of this feature class is to illustrate the location of proposed water points in public water systems in the Commonwealth of Kentucky as collected by Kentucky’s Area Development Districts. The locations of proposed water points along with the basic attribute data concerning those features, are used by the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority, Area Development Districts, public water systems, and other state/local agencies for the purpose of water infrastructure planning, project development, state and federal funding applications, Kentucky State Clearinghouse, capital improvement plans, data analysis, and for any other purpose that will improve the potable water infrastructure and service in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Kentucky Woodlands (2016)

Woodland areas in the Commonwealth of Kentucky derived from 2016 USDA-NASS data for use on the KyTopo map series. Cropland Data Layer by USDA-NASS, 2016 (https://datagateway.nrcs.usda.gov/). The different classifications of tree cover were pooled together to create a woodlands polygon. Classes include: Evergreen Forest, Mixed forest, Forest, Christmas trees, Other Tree Crops, Wetlands and Woody Wetlands. The polygon was then smoothed and reworked using algorithms to conform to the KyTopo maps. Online Linkage: https://ky.box.com/v/kymartian-KyTopo-Woodlands/

Geological Structure Contours, 1:24,000 Scale

These data provide users with a basic geologic framework of mapped structure contours for the state of Kentucky. These data were created with funding from the National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Act's STATEMAP Program, administered by the U.S. Geological Survey. KGS utilized this program to convert existing 7.5-minute geologic quadrangle maps to digital format. The goal of the digital mapping program is to establish a mapping database that links the graphic data with their geologic components. The data are produced and distributed by the Kentucky Geological Survey. Stuctural contours of varying datum digitized from the 1:24,000 Geologic Map Series maps. Structural contours were constructed by geologic map authors when the original geologic maps were published during the Kentucky geologic mapping program (Kentucky Geological Survey - U.S. Geological Survey from 1960 to 1980). Contoured formations were determined by the quadrangle map author, so contour datum may vary across quadrangle boundaries. Therefore contours are not based on the most recent subsurface data and should only be used as a general guideline for the underlying geologic structure. Contours are in feet above sea level, and may vary in contour interval across quadrangle boundaries. Please note that some contours are projected above the land surface.
