Thumbnails checked before they're shown

OrionGIS web 1.7.3Released 16 October 2026

Before a discovered dataset's map or image service becomes its thumbnail, OrionGIS checks the service actually draws something over the data's area; empty pictures and flat dark washes are never shown.

Changes since 1.7.2.

#Fixed

  • No blank or dark thumbnails. Some publishers' map and image services return an empty picture, or an unstretched near-black one, over their own area. OrionGIS now checks one picture first. Dark imagery is redrawn with the service's own percentile stretch; if it still shows nothing, the card says Preview coming, or uses the publisher's own quicklook when there is one.
  • Tiles-only ArcGIS services that serve cached image tiles are drawn from those tiles.
