A catalogue of data you can actually use
Every dataset in the OrionGIS catalogue is now one you can load and use, with a picture of the data, a plain description and a place on the map. And you can go straight to the polygons.
A catalogue is only as good as what you can do with what you find in it. This release holds every listed dataset to that standard.
Only data you can use. Some publishers put data online for viewing only: you can look at it, but you can't load it, copy it or build on it. Listing those datasets wasted your time. The OrionGIS catalogue now lists data whose licence lets you load and use it, so whatever you find can go straight into a map, an analysis or a project.
Go straight to the polygons. Data Explorer now filters by Points, Lines, Polygons, Raster and Table. Boundaries, districts, catchments, protected areas and flood extents are one click away. Administrative boundaries from OCHA's Common Operational Datasets join the catalogue in this release.
Every dataset has a picture. Thumbnails for datasets OrionAI discovers are drawn from the data itself, or from the publisher's own map service, so you see what you'll get before you open it.
Every dataset is described and placed. When a publisher leaves out the description, OrionAI writes a short, factual one from the data and labels it as its own. When a dataset has no coordinates, OrionGIS places it from its addresses and place names. Your own uploads get the same treatment before they publish: addresses become locations, and an empty description gets a suggestion you can edit. If a dataset can't be described or placed at all, it isn't listed.
Find data at Data Explorer, or read how to search the catalogue.
