United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland: Copernicus Vegetation Index Anomaly (FAPAR Anomaly)

Fraction of Absorbed Photosynthetically Active Radiation (FAPAR) is a biophysical dimensionless quantity (its values range from 0/no absorption to 1/total absorption) used to assess the greenness and health of vegetation. FAPAR anomalies can be used as an indicator to detect and monitor the impacts of agricultural drought on the growth and productivity of vegetation. The data is presented in 10-day time composite of the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS).

United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland - GLIDE Disaster Events

GLIDEnumbers are GLobal unique IDEntifiers for Disasters. Each disaster is registered in a record that contains a GLIDEnumber that uniquely identifies it and allows information to be interoperable across multiple disaster information sources, both structured and textual. Accessing disaster information can be a time consuming and laborious task. Not only is data scattered but frequently identification of the disaster can be confusing in countries with many disaster events and across borders. To address both of these issues, Asian Disaster Reduction Center (ADRC) proposed a globally common Unique ID code for disasters. Among the institutions using actively GLIDEnumbers are UN-OCHA (ReliefWeb, FSCC, HDX), UNDRR, UNDP, WMO, IFRC, FAO, the European Commission and the Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters (CRED), among many others. Country datasets are only produced for countries with at least one GLIDE event since 1 January 2022. The global dataset contains all events available from the GLIDE API, including those not assigned to a country.

Flood Alert Areas

Defra Network WMS server provided by the Environment Agency. This record is for Approval for Access product AfA055. Flood Alert Areas are geographical areas where it is possible for flooding of low-lying land and roads to occur from rivers, sea and in some locations groundwater. A single Flood Alert Area may cover the floodplain within the Flood Warning Service Limit of multiple catchments of similar characteristics. A Flood Alert Area may contain one or more Flood Warning Areas. In some coastal locations a Flood Alert may be issued for spray or overtopping and be defined by a stretch of coastline. A Flood Alert is issued to warn people of the possibility of flooding and encourage them to be alert, stay vigilant and make early / low impact preparations for flooding. Flood Alerts are issued earlier than Flood Warnings to provide advance notice of the possibility of flooding and may be issued when there is less confidence that flooding will occur in a Food Warning Area. Flood Warnings Areas (established to apply to discrete communities) are available in AfA054. INFORMATION WARNING: The groundwater flood alert areas are either at a community/local scale, or where this is not possible are more generalised and based on other factors, such as geology and counties. In general, specialists used the national groundwater dataset to make a comparison with historical maps and bedrock geology to create the groundwater flood alert areas. Additional data sources, including groundwater susceptibility maps, borehole data, local modelling and LiDAR may also have been used depending on the location of the area. Risk of Flooding from Surface Water

Defra Network WMS server provided by the Environment Agency. This dataset shows information about flooding extents and depths. The depth of water during a flood is an important factor in how dangerous a flood might be. RoFSW is a probabilistic product, meaning that it shows the overall risk, rather than the risk associated with a specific event or scenario. In externally published versions of this dataset, risk is displayed as one of three likelihood bandings: High - greater than or equal to 3.3% (1 in 30) chance in any given year; Medium - less than 3.3% (1 in 30) but greater than or equal to 1% (1 in 100) chance in any given year; Low - less than 1% (1 in 100) but greater than or equal to 0.1% (1 in 1000) chance in any given year. NB. This is a complex dataset, with preview available only on certain zoom levels. The Web Mapping service has been set to 1:50 000 in the attribute. The services are set to be visible from the 1:50 000 scale range. There may be some variation, since end client software may interpret the request differently. RoFSW is created using a combination of local flood model information and national flood modelling. These are used to generate the probabilities of flood risk for each 2m grid square of land, with the aim of using the best available flood risk information in any one location. This ArcGIS Online item uses the flood extent layer only. Additional depth-based flood likelihood layers (0.2 m, 0.3 m, 0.6 m, 0.9 m and 1.2 m, plus 0 m extent) are available from the same Environment Agency WMS service but are not included in this item.

2022 Intermediate Zone Centroids

Intermediate zone centroids are point features that represent the population weighted centre of intermediate zones – the geography used for the dissemination of small area statistics in Scotland when results are unsuitable for release at data zone level. These centroids are used to link intermediate zones to other (higher level) geographies and produce a 'best-fit' match. Intermediate zones can then be aggregated to approximate this larger area of interest or higher level geography that statistics wouldn’t normally be available for. Intermediate zones represent a relatively stable geography that can be used to analyse change over time, with changes only occurring after a Census. This dataset represents the intermediate zones that were created following the 2022 Census, with 1,334 intermediate zones covering the whole of Scotland.

GB Light Grey Local Names

This style provides a detailed vector basemap for Great Britain using Open Data providing a light neutral background style with minimal colors, labels, and features that is designed to draw attention to your thematic content. The labels are in local language providing Welsh, Scottish Gaelic and local English names where they are available. The web map version of this dataset can be seen here. The vector tile layer is a similar style to the Esri Light Gray Canvas map which is provided in Web Mercator projection. The GB Cartographic tile layer was updated simply by changing the "text-field" value for a few layers in the map from '_name' to '_name_local'.    This service contains data supplied by the Ordnance Survey in their Zoomstack product (data last updated June 2026)   The map projection is British National Grid. Customise this Map Because this is a vector tile layer, you can customise the map to change its content and symbology. You are able to turn on and off layers and change their symbols. You can open this style in the vector tile style editor, make your changes and save a copy of your modified style to use yourself. Please send any feedback to VectorTiles@esriuk.com
