✦ Suggested by OrionAIThis dataset includes reports for all incident types responded to by the Charlotte Fire Department including calls for Fires, EMS, HazMat, Technical Rescue, Service Calls, and others. The data covers locked incident reports for incidents worked within the past two years, up to the last data update, and only includes fields that can be released to the public. For more details on fire-specific incident reports, please refer to the “CFD Public Incident Reports (Fires Only)” dataset. CFD reports its incidents in a manner consistent with the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS). Detailed information on NFIRS data and fire data can be found on FEMA’s US Fire Administration Website, usfa.fema.gov. The Fire Responsible Agency is the fire department (municipality, county, township, etc.) that serves as the primary emergency response agency for the given physical address. Additional agencies are often simultaneously dispatched to a given address in the event of an emergency. For example, within the city limits of Durham, North Carolina, the Durham Fire Department is the responsible agency. However, there are also areas outside of the city limits and/or located in Orange or Chatham County where Durham Fire Department is the responsible agency via inter-local contractual agreement. The data is maintained and regularly updated by the City of Durham Fire Department to ensure accuracy and reliability.
An Officer Involved Shooting (OIS) is the discharge of a firearm, whether accidental or intentional, by a police officer, whether on or off duty. For the purposes of this posting, an OIS will only refer to the instances in which an officer discharged a firearm at a person. CMPD posts Officer Involved Shootings in an effort to create greater transparency of the actions of our employees. It is important to us that members of the community are informed whenever an officer discharges his/her firearm at a person and whether the shooting follows department policies and procedures. We believe that your trust and confidence in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department will increase as you understand what our officers encounter and how we hold them accountable for their actions. The CMPD is continuously reviewing and improving our practices to reduce the likelihood of deadly force incidents.
FBI Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Homicide (Murder and Non-Negligent Manslaughter) victims in the CMPD jurisdiction. Murder and Non-Negligent Manslaughter is defined by the FBI as, "The willful (non-negligent) and illegal (non-justified) killing of one person by another." This dataset is updated nightly and includes geographic coordinates and the NPA (Neighborhood Profile Area) for each homicide (murder) victim when available.
The Alternative Fuels Data Center (AFDC) provides a wealth of information and data on alternative and renewable fuels, advanced vehicles, fuel-saving strategies, and emerging transportation technologies.
A fire protection class, also referred to as an ISO rating or a PPC rating, is determined for a fire department, based on that department’s performance in a series of evaluations conducted by the Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM). OSFM also evaluates a given area to determine an ISO rating or PPC rating it will attribute to that area based on that area’s proximity to a fire department/fire station and the available water supply in the geographical area. This layer visualizes the ISO/PPC rating for the fire department identified as the fire responsible agency for the given address. This rating may differ from OSFM’s rating for geographical area of the given address. The data is maintained and regularly updated by the City of Durham Fire Department to ensure accuracy and reliability.
