✦ Suggested by OrionAIBoundaries of Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources Public Hunting Areas. These are both Wildlife Management Areas (WMA), Hunting Access Areas, Outdoor Recreation Area, and areas for which there is some kind of public hunting allowed (liek state forests and state parks). The current hunting and trapping guide should be referred to for specific regulations. Tracts of different ownership are merged into a single polygon for each of the public hunting areas. Not all WMAs are in public ownership. Some are privately owned and have short term agreements to allow public hunting access. There are two other feature classes, " Wildlife Management Areas" and "Non_WMA_Hunting_Area_tracts" that are broken down by tract. That Wildlife Management Area feature class includes the ownership for each tract of the WMA.
Vector data set consisting of lines representing streams in Kentucky. Each line segment is attributed with the number of square miles of drainage area, and the peak flow values for 2, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 200, and 500 year intervals at that point on the stream. Peak flow values were calculated using the equations in the USGS Water-Resources Investigations Report 03-4180 "Estimating the Magnitude of Peak Flows for Streams in Kentucky for Selected Recurrence Intervals." The data also has attributes indicating when the peak flow values should not be used because the drainage area is out of the size range for the equation, the drainage area is greater than 10 percent impervious, or the stream segment is in a lake or pond.

The 3D Hydrography Program (3DHP) data is an integrated, National, 3D-enabled hydrologic dataset derived from the USGS 3D Elevation Program (3DEP) data. For areas where Elevation-derived Hydrography (EDH) has not yet been collected, 3DHP data is supplemented by hydrologic vector data from the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD). As further EDH data is collected, it will replace the NHD data in those areas. 3DHP data ingested from EDH sources includes ‘value added’ catchments and flowline network derivative attributes. All the data is open and non-proprietary. However, users should be aware that temporal changes may have occurred since this dataset was collected and that some parts of this data may no longer represent actual surface conditions. Users should not use this data for critical applications without a full awareness of its limitations. This dataset is not intended to be used for site-specific regulatory determinations. 3DHP datasets include a three-dimensional (3D) hydrography network generated from, and integrated with, elevation data from the 3DEP to better represent stream gradients and channel conditions, along with waterbodies, hydrologic units, hydrologically enhanced elevation and other surfaces, and more consistent and accurate attributes. This product is new in federal fiscal year 2025 (FY25), and consists only of vector data in a series of feature classes. The product represents the 3DHP dataset and the schema in which it is contained as of September 30, 2024 Future Annual Staged Product releases will reflect the schema at the time the product is generated and include more EDH-sourced data holdings.
The Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD) is a comprehensive aggregated collection of hydrologic unit data consistent with the national criteria for delineation and resolution. It defines the areal extent of surface water drainage to a point except in coastal or lake front areas where there could be multiple outlets as stated by the "Federal Standards and Procedures for the National Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD)" “Standard” (https://pubs.usgs.gov/tm/11/a3/). Watershed boundaries are determined solely upon science-based hydrologic principles, not favoring any administrative boundaries or special projects, nor particular program or agency. This dataset represents the hydrologic unit boundaries to the 14-digit (7th level) for the entire state of Kentucky, as well as some intersecting watershed boundaries from bordering states including: Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri. The naming and numbering conventions follow USGS standards, and were assigned by the Kentucky Division of Water, GIS and Data Analysis Section. At a minimum, the HUs are delineated at 1:24,000-scale in the conterminous United States, 1:25,000-scale in Hawaii, Pacific basin and the Caribbean, and 1:63,360-scale in Alaska, meeting the National Map Accuracy Standards (NMAS). Higher resolution boundaries are being developed where partners and data exist and will be incorporated back into the WBD. WBD data are delivered as a dataset of polygons and corresponding lines that define the boundary of the polygon. WBD polygon attributes include hydrologic unit codes (HUC), size (in the form of acres and square kilometers), name, downstream hydrologic unit code, type of watershed, non-contributing areas, and flow modifications. The HUC describes where the unit is in the country and the level of the unit. WBD line attributes contain the highest level of hydrologic unit for each boundary, line source information and flow modifications. Woodland areas in the Commonwealth of Kentucky derived from 2016 USDA-NASS data for use on the KyTopo map series. Cropland Data Layer by USDA-NASS, 2016 (https://datagateway.nrcs.usda.gov/). The different classifications of tree cover were pooled together to create a woodlands polygon. Classes include: Evergreen Forest, Mixed forest, Forest, Christmas trees, Other Tree Crops, Wetlands and Woody Wetlands. The polygon was then smoothed and reworked using algorithms to conform to the KyTopo maps. Online Linkage: https://ky.box.com/v/kymartian-KyTopo-Woodlands/
