Search the data index from any AI assistant

Two new tools on the OrionGIS MCP server let Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot and other assistants search the data index and describe any dataset in it, with the publisher and licence credited.

  • Search the data index (search_data_index): hosted and discovered datasets, by keyword and meaning, filtered by place, map area, type or source. Every result names its publisher and licence.
  • Describe a dataset (describe_dataset): description, publisher, licence and whether it can be loaded, coverage, years, columns, sample rows, and imagery details.
  • Both tools are also available to the Ask OrionAI panel.
