Read the announcement: Every dataset on OrionGIS now has its own page
Changes since 1.2.0.
#New
- A page for every dataset. Each dataset has one page at an address like
/data/kenya/health/health-facilities-k7f3, with a map preview, description, columns, sample rows, publisher, licence, coverage and how to cite it. Anyone can open it, signed in or not, and search engines can find it. - Every action on the page. Open in map, Add to project, Save, Download and Ask OrionAI. If you are not signed in, choosing one takes you through a free sign-up and back to the page with the action done.
- Share anywhere. Copy the link, or share it to WhatsApp, LinkedIn, X, Facebook or email. Shared links show the dataset's map preview.
- Browse by place and theme. Pages for each country and region, each theme, and each place and theme together (for example, Kenya health data).
- Report or request removal. A link on every dataset page sends a report to our data team.
- Data Discovery for Orion staff. A new section of Admin to run the catalogue: portals, runs, datasets, the review queue, link health, search and growth, settings, roles and an audit log. It replaces the Data Factory, Extraction QA and Curator tabs.
#Improved
- Data Explorer. Faster searches that match by keyword and by meaning together, View and Save buttons on every card and row, and a filter for hosted or discovered data.
- Map previews. Dataset thumbnails are drawn on the Orion basemap, fitted to the data and styled by type, instead of a bare image on a whole-world view.
- Old links keep working. Links to
/dataset/<number>now open the dataset's page.
