Downloaded a dataset? Here's what to do with it next
People who download data from OrionGIS now get a few short, practical emails about that dataset, with related open data for the same place and a one-click way to see it on a map.
Most people find OrionGIS through a dataset: an administrative boundary, a population grid, a list of health facilities. They download it and leave, often to open it in another tool.
From today, a download is the start of a short conversation. Over the next two weeks you get up to five emails about the dataset you took, each asking for one thing:
- More data you can use. Three more open datasets, picked from what you download, follow, save and view on OrionGIS.
- See it on a map. One button opens your dataset in Map Studio, already loaded and signed in. Nothing to install, nothing to upload.
- Ask Orion AI. Ask about your dataset in plain words: what it shows, where values are highest, how it compares with your other layers. The answer lands on your map.
- Share it. Publish your map and anyone can open the link, no account needed.
- Collect what's missing. When the open data stops short, build a form and collect your own data on phones, straight onto the same map.
Steps you've already done are skipped, and the emails stop once you publish a map or a form. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe, and you can turn them off under Email on your profile.
