✦ Suggested by OrionAIA research point is a feature representing single coordinate or point based locations, where some form of research observation, test, trial, measure, or monitoring activity has, or will take place. The mapped features are generally small in extent (for example, soil water table monitor, tree cavity nest), and can be used to represent the locations of sampling techniques (for example, basal area prism sweep). This data class is one of three primitive data classes: Research Point (RESPOINT) Research Line (RESLINE) Research Polygon (RESPOLY) Status: On going: data is continually being updated Maintenance and Update Frequency: As required Contact Calvin Julie, Natural Resources Information Unitcalvin.julie@ontario.ca Note Additional features licensed under the Ontario Geospatial Data Exchange (OGDE) Agreement are available to members of the OGDE for professional, non-commercial use only. GIS data released under Presumption to Publish and the OGL. Horsham District Council Tree Preservation Orders A Tree Preservation Order (TPO) is a legally enforceable order made by the Local Planning Authority to protect trees and woodland in the interests of public amenity. The power to make a TPO is contained in the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and the Town and Country (Tree Preservation)(England) Regulations 2012. The principal effect of a TPO is to prohibit the cutting down, uprooting, topping, lopping, uprooting, wilful damage to or wilful destruction of protected trees or woodlands unless permission has been given by the Local Planning Authority. This dataset depicts individual, groups of trees, areas and woodlands as POLYGONS. Data has been captured against the Ordnance Survey Mastermap basemap. Attribute fields include: 1. REFERENCE = Unique Identifier for Polygon; 2. NAME = Name, Reference or Address of Tree Preservation Order; 3. TREE_PRESERVATION_ORDER = The Tree Preservation Order reference that affects this tree; 4. TNUM = Individual reference for Tree, Area or Woodland; 5. TREE_PRESERVATION_ZONE_TYPE = The type of order - Area, Group, Woodland or Individual Tree; 6. NOTES = Comments or Description relating to the Tree Preservation Order; 7. START_DATE = The date the Tree Preservation Order came into force (yyyy/mm/dd); 8. ENTRY_DATE = Date the entity was last updated (yyyy/mm/dd); 9. STATUS = The status of the Tree Preservation Order; 7. Documentation URL = Link to published documentation on our website This Data is formatted for the Open Digital Planning Hub project.
Site Regions and Site Districts of Ontario represent an early Ecological Land Classification (ELC) system originally developed by Angus Hills. This dataset was revised by the ELC Working Group in 2000 to better reflect new information and new technology. The Site Regions of Ontario was used for descriptive, planning, and resource management purposes. This upper level in its hierarchy was most useful for provincial and regional roll-ups of data and for strategic planning. Site Districts of Ontario is a more detailed lower (finer-scale) level of the hierarchy, and was more useful for detailed resource management prescriptions and other local and site planning applications. This layer is designed to be used as a spatial selection tool and as a background layer suitable for overlay and or intersection with numerous scales or current hydrologic data. This dataset shows the boundaries of the province's six fire management zones that existed prior to 2014 in which most forest fires received the same type of response. These management zones were based on: Common forest and forest fire management objectives land use density of values at risk fire load forest ecology The 2014 Wildland Fire Management Strategy moved from a zone-based approach to one where each wildland fire is assessed and receives an appropriate response according to the circumstances and condition of the fire. Identifies the designations of requiring authorities as set out by s175(2) of the Resource Management Act 1991.
Miscellaneous events are often the result of the cumulative impact of a combination of abiotic, insect and disease agents or events. For example, Aspen decline where repeated infestations of Forest Tent Caterpillar, are combined with several seasons of prolonged drought. The Government of Ontario tracks forest damage events to help proactively manage the detrimental effects to our forests. We monitor the threat and spread of invasive forest pest insect species in Ontario. The data is also important to the Forest Management Planning process in calculating timber volume loss within affected areas. Damage Event - Data Description (PDF) Status On going: data is being continually updated Maintenance and Update Frequency As needed: data is updated as deemed necessary Contact Calvin Julie, calvin.julie@ontario.ca Recommendations The boundaries for these events were coarsely mapped. This must be taken into account when comparing information from this data class to other NRVIS layers that have a higher spatial accuracy (e.g.:Forest Cover). Otherwise, misleading results will be derived whenever this information is subjected to analysis. This NRVIS data class accommodates history for events spanning several years which includes overlaps. Users should request and/or sort out individual events through the 'Year of Event' ,'Event Name' and 'Forest Damage Ranking' attributes in order to prevent clutter.
