✦ Suggested by OrionAISite Regions and Site Districts of Ontario represent an early Ecological Land Classification (ELC) system originally developed by Angus Hills. This dataset was revised by the ELC Working Group in 2000 to better reflect new information and new technology. The Site Regions of Ontario was used for descriptive, planning, and resource management purposes. This upper level in its hierarchy was most useful for provincial and regional roll-ups of data and for strategic planning. Site Districts of Ontario is a more detailed lower (finer-scale) level of the hierarchy, and was more useful for detailed resource management prescriptions and other local and site planning applications. This layer is designed to be used as a spatial selection tool and as a background layer suitable for overlay and or intersection with numerous scales or current hydrologic data. Miscellaneous events are often the result of the cumulative impact of a combination of abiotic, insect and disease agents or events. For example, Aspen decline where repeated infestations of Forest Tent Caterpillar, are combined with several seasons of prolonged drought. The Government of Ontario tracks forest damage events to help proactively manage the detrimental effects to our forests. We monitor the threat and spread of invasive forest pest insect species in Ontario. The data is also important to the Forest Management Planning process in calculating timber volume loss within affected areas. This must be taken into account when comparing information from this data class to other NRVIS layers that have a higher spatial accuracy (e.g.:Forest Cover). Otherwise, misleading results will be derived whenever this information is subjected to analysis. This NRVIS data class accommodates history for events spanning several years which includes overlaps. Users should request and/or sort out individual events through the 'Year of Event' ,'Event Name' and 'Forest Damage Ranking' attributes in order to prevent clutter.
This dataset represents the locations of licenced and permitted pits and quarries regulated by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) under the Aggregate Resources Act, R.S.O. 1990. Aggregate site data has been divided into active and inactive sites. Active sites may be further subdivided into partial surrenders. In partial surrenders, defined areas of a site are inactive while the rest of the site remains active. The data includes: site location and size licensee name approval type (licence or permit) operation type (pit or quarry) maximum annual tonnage limit the MNRF district responsible for the site Use our interactive Pits and Quarries map to find active sites. This data does not include aggregate sites regulated by the Ministry of Transportation. This dataset contains spatial data from a 2017 survey of the wetlands of Roscommon and Longford. Only wetlands in Roscommon are included in this dataset. The survey was a joint initiative of Longford County Council, Roscommon County Council, and Wetland Surveys Ireland. The project was made possible through the financial support of Longford County Council, Roscommon County Council, and The Heritage Council.
