Damage Proxy Maps show significant changes in radar coherence and amplitude; Flood Proxy Maps show areas that changed to standing water. Maps are preliminary and checked against news reports and ground-level imagery where available. Derived from synthetic aperture radar data acquired by the ALOS-2 satellites operated by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) before (16 June 2015) and during (15 Oct 2019, UTC 03:37) the event. Derived from synthetic aperture radar data acquired by the ALOS-2 satellites operated by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) before (27 May 2019) and during (14 Oct 2019, UTC 03:17) the event. These are preliminary maps derived from satellite radar and should be used as guidance only. Coloured pixels may include false positives, and their absence does not mean an absence of damage or flooding.
