Mozambique environment data
+ Follow new data19 datasets about environment in Mozambique.
This data relates to an aerial survey conducted of Mozambique from the 24-29 March 2019 following tropical cyclone Idai. Data was collected by INGC (National Disaster Management Authority of Mozambique), IFRC, UNDAC, MSF, DFID, Save the Children, and MapAction. Enumerators flew in squirrel helicopters over priority areas (usually at 500 feet) and some fixed wing aircraft for confirmation on outlying areas. Data contains location, points of interest, severity and estimated population. The survey used Kobo for data collection. Processing was conducted in R and then imported into ArcGIS for final map products. Data is presented in .xlsx (with and without hxl tags) and .geojson formats.

# Mozambique Cyclone Jude: Damage and Flood Proxy Maps, Mar 2025 The **Earth Observatory of Singapore – Remote Sensing Lab (EOS-RS)** produced these damage and flood proxy maps for Mozambique Cyclone Jude (Mar 2025) from synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite images. Each map is a separate ZIP below with its GeoTIFF, a KMZ for Google Earth, the PNG figures and a text file describing how it was made and how to read it. ## Maps in this dataset - **EOS-RS Damage Proxy Map: Nampula Province, Mozambique, Tropical Cyclone Jude, 13 Mar 2025, v0.8** - **EOS-RS Flood Proxy Map: Zambeziar Province, Mozambique, Tropical Cyclone Jude, 13 Mar 2025, v0.7** **More map details and files:** **More map details and files:** EOS-RS_202503_Mozambique_Cyclone_Jude/ **Legal Disclaimer:** **Credits:** Earth Observatory of Singapore - Remote Sensing Lab (EOS-RS), Contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data (2024-2025)
GLIDEnumbers are GLobal unique IDEntifiers for Disasters. Each disaster is registered in a record that contains a GLIDEnumber that uniquely identifies it and allows information to be interoperable across multiple disaster information sources, both structured and textual. Accessing disaster information can be a time consuming and laborious task. Not only is data scattered but frequently identification of the disaster can be confusing in countries with many disaster events and across borders. To address both of these issues, Asian Disaster Reduction Center (ADRC) proposed a globally common Unique ID code for disasters. Among the institutions using actively GLIDEnumbers are UN-OCHA (ReliefWeb, FSCC, HDX), UNDRR, UNDP, WMO, IFRC, FAO, the European Commission and the Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters (CRED), among many others. Country datasets are only produced for countries with at least one GLIDE event since 1 January 2022. The global dataset contains all events available from the GLIDE API, including those not assigned to a country.
**ADAM ID: FL-20230217-MOZ-00** Flood covering 334147.0 sq m on Feb 17 2023 in Mozambique. It impacted 204989 people.
This dataset is a compilation of various sources such as Copernicus, Sentinel-1 and Atmospheric and Environmental Research, A Verisk Business, & African Risk Capacity using several days to calculate the maximum flood extent for the whole event.
This dataset is based on an extract from OpenStreetMap. In addition, it contains access constraints status in the column "status" and is edited regularly with information received by partners of the Logistics cluster in Mozambique. This dataset is the same as used on the Logistics Cluster Access Constraints map published here: https://logcluster.org/sector/cyclone-idai19
Data produced under Thematic National Mapping and Cartographic updating Project at 1/250 000 scale implemented by National Cartography and Tele-detection Centre, Mozambique (CENACARTA).
Data produced under hydrological forecasting strategy where National Directorate of Water Resource Management (DNGRH) is one of the main actors of the Disaster Risk Reduction system, whose fundamental and prime task is the monitoring, forecasting and issuing early warnings about the risks ahead, resulting in the safeguarding of lives and property
**UNOSAT code TC20230221MOZ, GDACS Id: 1000961** This map illustrates satellite-detected surface waters in Vilankulo Town, Inhambane Province, Mozambique as observed from a WorldView-3 image acquired 13 March 2023 at 09:40 local time and Pleiades image acquired 10 March 2023 at 09:48 local time. Within the analysis extent of about 2,800 hectares, approximately 35 hectares of land appear to be flooded. Based on Worldpop population data and the detected surface waters within the analysis extent, approximately 350 people are potentially exposed to or living close to flooded areas along with 71 structures and potentially affected road 290 meter by flooding. This is a preliminary analysis and has not yet been validated in the field. Please send ground feedback to United Nations Satellite Centre (UNOSAT).
This data illustrates the satellite detected surface waters in Manica, Sofala, and Tete Provinces in Mozambique, as observed from Sentinel-1 imagery acquired on 13, 14, 19 and 20 March 2019.
This dataset contains OpenStreetMap data exported from the HOTOSM disaster mapping in response to flooding events in the Gaza, Maputo and Maputo City Provinces of Mozambique (GLIDE: FL-2026-000004-MOZ) in early 2026. Severe flooding in Mozambique has affected more than half a million people following heavy rains in the first weeks of the new year. Gaza province has been hit hardest, alongside Maputo and Sofala provinces. The first OSM extract was based on Copernicus' flood extend from 29 January 2026. The first disaster response mapping project focused on settlements around Chicumbane in the Province of Gaza which, from 9 February, expanded to other settlements in the province. It now includes additional settlements further north in the Province. HOT worked with UNICEF, INGD (Mozambique Disaster Risk Management Institute) and OSM Mozambique to define priority areas and features. The data has been contributed by volunteers through the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team's Tasking Manager and represents buildings and roads in the affected area. It was updated once or twice a week as mapping progresses but is now updated every other week. Subscribe to this dataset to be notified of any new updates. This dataset includes all OpenStreetMap features in the area of interest for this event, covering: Buildings, Roads. See the list of projects in the Tasking Manager here. For more information see the HOTOSM activation page. As of 22 April 2026: over 3,300 contributors (non unique).
