About this dataset

We have assessed *primary and secondary roads* for signs of road blockages in the *Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Kathmandu* regions in Nepal. **Brief Overview: 28/08/2026 Dataset** -We found 22 road blockage locations (19 of these locations were severely flooded) -The NH42 road was highly impacted by flooding, and parts of NH03, NH18 and F181 roads were affected by flooding. -The data is held in a point shapefile format in WGS 84 EPSG: 4326. *This dataset is derived from crowd sourcing. The next data release is planned for 11/09/2026.* You can find the Planetary Response Network: Nepal Flash Flooding 2026 project we ran here.

Documentation

For this project we used PlanetScope 3m resolution imagery to assess road damage in Nepal following the flash flooding event which took place on 26th August 2026. Using a point tool, we asked 15 volunteers to categorise every one image on the Zooniverse platform. We asked volunteers to identify signs of road blockages or bridge damage, and mark them with a point. This is a change detection style workflow. We generated a consensus from the raw data, and visualised this as a point dataset. The markings were validated by an expert by comparing the marks to satellite imagery within GIS. Mozambique: Flooding Road Blockages

We have assessed primary, secondary, and tertiary roads for road blockages (flooding or debris) for Maputo and South Sofala in Mozambique following flooding. The data is held in a shapefile format using the WGS 84 EPSG: 4326 projection. You can find the Planetary Response Network Mozambique Flooding 2026 project we ran here.

Road network across the area tagged `highway=*`: motorways, residential streets, service roads, footways, and trails. Useful for routing, accessibility analysis, and evacuation planning. Coverage reflects where volunteer mappers have been active. Urban areas are usually well represented, remote areas may be sparse.
