Measured radon concentration in indoor air.The dataset reports values for the radon measurements received by Umeå municipality. The dataset is currently not complete, but work is ongoing to add more radon measurements. There may also be more measurements made that the municipality is not aware of.In multi-dwelling buildings, measurements may have been made in several different apartments with different results, but the location of the measurement is linked to the entrance address or property where the measurement was carried out.The indoor air concentrations vary throughout the year. The variations are mainly due to changes in outdoor temperature and wind strength. The levels also vary over the day and from room to room. The ventilation system and how often it is ventilated also affect radon levels. Therefore, radon measurements must last for a long time, at least two months and be carried out during the cold season. Measurements made over a shorter period of time or outside the heating season are only indicated. It is important to note that if ventilation changes, windows are sealed, cracks occur in the foundation or if major rebuilds are made, a new measurement should be made. The Swedish Radiation Safety Authority also recommends that a new measurement be made if more than 10 years have passed since the last measurement was carried out. On an ongoing basis for single incoming radon measurements and in conjunction with annual aggregated deliveries from radon laboratories.
