Finding the area column
OrionAI 2.28.0Released 7 November 2026
OrionGIS now looks for a table's areas in the column the publisher marked as geography, in columns named in the publishers' own terms, and, as a last resort, in any column whose values match an area level.
Changes since 2.27.0.
#New
- The publisher's geography comes first. When a statistics office marks a dimension as geography, that column is tried first.
- Areas named the way publishers name them. Local authorities, councils, aimags, soums, bags and khoroos, oblasts, cantons, kommuner and län, NUTS and LAU regions, Australian statistical areas, electoral areas, towns and cities are now recognised as area columns. Columns that describe something else, such as country of birth or area type, are not.
- Any column whose values are areas. If no column is named like an area, OrionGIS tries the table's other text columns. One is used only when at least 80% of its values match a level of areas OrionGIS holds.
