Places matched through the gazetteer
OrionAI 2.29.0Released 7 November 2026
When a table names an area in a way the boundary set doesn't, OrionGIS now matches it through its gazetteer, by spelling variant, romanised name or the publisher's own code.
Changes since 2.28.0.
#New
- More of a table's areas find their boundaries. When a name or code doesn't match the boundary set directly, OrionGIS asks its gazetteer. The gazetteer knows:
- spelling and romanisation variants (Aldarxaan and Aldarkhaan);
- names in local script (Mongolian Cyrillic);
- names without words such as County or sum;
- official codes: ISO 3166-2, the statistics office's own area codes and humanitarian p-codes.
- Two areas with one name are never confused. A name or code shared by two areas is left unmatched, never given to one of them.
- Mongolia first. Several Mongolian livestock and herding tables that were shown on the country outline now draw by soum.
