The homepage catches up with the product

31 October 2026The OrionGIS team

OrionGIS has grown into one platform for the whole life of spatial data, used for places all over the world. The new homepage shows that with the product itself, not more words.

OrionGIS started in Nairobi and still is built there. In the last few months the product has outgrown the way our homepage described it. The Global Data Index now holds more than 33,000 open datasets from over 1,700 publishers, covering more than 240 countries and regions. OrionAI turns a plain question into a finished, explained map: land cover from satellite imagery, vegetation change, viewsheds, stream networks, slope, flood exposure and choropleths. So the homepage now shows the product instead of describing it.

Watch OrionAI work, everywhere. The top of the page is a carousel of real OrionAI outputs: land cover around Lake Naivasha, crop vigour in California, slope on Mount Fuji, water on Tonle Sap, a field form for water points in the Peruvian Andes drafted from one sentence, a street-tree survey for Melbourne, and a dashboard question answered in seconds. A request is typed, OrionAI finds what it needs, the steps run and the result is explained in plain words. Every map, form question and AI plan comes from OrionGIS; only the pacing is replayed, and the dashboard uses sample data.

See the world's data. The Global Data Index section shows how far the index reaches: the live counts above tiles such as Agriculture in Kenya, Drone and aerial imagery in Brazil, Boundaries in the United States, Climate in South Africa and Oceans worldwide, each with its live record count and a click from its collection.

One workflow, not a list of products. Discover the data that exists, collect what is missing with OrionForms, map and analyse in Map Studio, understand the result with OrionAI, publish maps and OrionInsights dashboards, and run it all as your organisation's geoportal.

Apps for the field and the desktop. Orion Collect, our Android app for OrionForms, is now available as an early-access download: sign in with your OrionGIS account and collect offline. And Orion Connect, a free and open-source QGIS plugin, brings OrionGIS datasets into QGIS as live layers and sends your layers back.

Pricing that reads anywhere. Prices now show in US dollars first. Visitors in Kenya still see shillings and M-Pesa first, and anyone can switch. Prices have not changed.
