Found a dataset? Sign in and you're right back on it
1 November 2026The OrionGIS team
Signing in or creating an account from a dataset, a shared map or any public page now brings you back to it, with the action you chose done.
Most people meet OrionGIS on a dataset page: a search result, a shared link, a map someone published. Viewing and sharing are open to everyone; downloading, saving or opening the data in a map needs a free account. Until now, the trip through sign-in could end on the workspace Home page, and you had to find the dataset again.
From today, wherever you start, you come back there:
- Choose Download, Save, Open in map, Add to project or Ask OrionAI on a dataset page. Create an account, or choose Sign in if you already have one, and you land back on that dataset with the action done, for that dataset only.
- Any sign-in method: password, an emailed sign-in link, Google, Microsoft or Apple. New accounts come back after verifying their email.
- Header and shared maps: Sign In and Create Account remember the page you were on.
- Forgot your password? After the reset, the same browser still brings you back.
It is a small change, but it is the difference between finding data and actually using it.
