Put official statistics on the map before publication

OrionAI 2.19.0Released 1 November 2026

Statistics tables gain boundary and coordinate preparation, more national statistics portal readers, and a better-copy rule that preserves originals.

Changes since 2.18.0.

#New

  • Readers for PX-Web v1, PxStat, public SDMX dataflows and OpenDataSoft extend official statistics access beyond Open SDG. A recovered inventory covers 218 countries and territories, with 32 candidate country channels for staged review. Candidates are not automatically approved or harvested.
  • Supported statistics tables are matched to administrative boundaries or explicit longitude/latitude before publication. National figures use the country outline. Kenya county codes and former provinces and Ghana's former ten regions have crosswalks.
  • Join summaries report matched and omitted areas. Maps expose a selected breakdown and yearly values; spatial exports retain every matched row. The original publisher table remains available for other rows and detail.

#Improved

  • Duplicates are only removed within the same source. A copy from the same source page, or from the same publisher covering the same area (at least half of the combined extent), is skipped unless it is better; a better copy is added alongside, with the reason recorded. Originals and their links remain intact, keep refreshing, and nothing is automatically retired.
  • Datasets from different organisations are always kept and published, even when the title matches. They are no longer held for review as suspected duplicates.
  • A table placed by its own coordinates now counts as the finest detail when copies are compared.
  • Statistics sources that don't say when a table changed are re-checked monthly instead of fully downloaded on every harvest. Map views reuse a recently read table for a few hours.
  • Unsupported or oversized tables, unknown/ambiguous areas and insufficient valid coordinates wait unpublished. Local figures are not relabelled as national totals.

Reads are bounded to 50 MB and JSON-stat cubes to 100,000 cells. Live portal validation and additional country-specific crosswalks are required during rollout. These capabilities do not mean every country's statistics are already published.
