Build a dashboard

#Create a dashboard

1. Open Insights and choose New Dashboard.
2. Enter a Dashboard name (for example "DOM Health — OPD Report") and an optional Description of what it tracks.
3. Create it. The new dashboard opens empty.

#Add a widget

1. On the dashboard choose Edit Dashboard, then Add Widget.

2. Give the widget a Title and pick a Chart type: Bar, Line, Pie, Gauge, Indicator, Indicator Stack (paged, one group per card) or Table.

3. Choose its Data source:

   • Catalogue (datasets) — counts of datasets, grouped by category, type or status;
   • Projects — your projects;
   • Field Data Activity (all your forms) — submissions, grouped by project, form, or accepting vs. closed;
   • Form Field (one field, optionally grouped) — one question from one form;
   • Compare Fields — several questions from one form side by side, for example one bar per disease.

4. For a form data source, pick the Form and then questions from a list of that form's real questions. For Form Field:

   • Group by field — optional; leave blank for a single total.
   • Value field — optional; leave blank to count submissions.
   • Aggregation — Sum, Avg, Count, Min, Max, or Distinct count (which needs a Group by field).

   For Compare Fields, tick the Fields to compare and choose an Aggregation.

5. Choose Preview to check the result, then Add Widget.

Only forms in projects you own appear in the form list.

#Edit, arrange and save

While you are in Edit Dashboard mode you can:

• drag widgets to move them and resize them;
• use the edit or remove icon on a widget;
• choose Add Widget for more.

Choose Save Layout to keep your changes, and Done Editing to leave edit mode.

#Who sees your data

Signed-in users can open a dashboard, but only its owner (or an administrator) can edit it. Widgets built on a form only show data to the owner of that form's project — anyone else sees an empty widget, never the numbers.
