Dashboard alerts
Get notified when a number on a dashboard goes above or below a value you choose.
Updated 13 October 2026
A dashboard alert tells you when a number on a dashboard crosses a line, for example when malaria positivity goes above 30, or when monthly reports drop below 20.
#Set an alert
- Open the dashboard.
- On the widget you want to watch, click the bell in its top corner.
- Choose what to watch:
- Total of all values, the sum of everything the widget shows;
- Latest point, the last value on a trend line;
- one bar or slice, by its name.
- Choose goes above or goes below, type the number, and click Save alert.
The dialog shows the value now. A filled bell means the widget has an alert.
You can also ask OrionAI: "Alert me when total attendance goes below 500." It proposes the alert, and it is set only when you confirm.
#How it works
- Alerts are checked every hour, using the dashboard's data without any filters applied.
- An alert fires once when the value crosses your line. It fires again only after the value has come back and crossed again.
- If the value is already past your line when you save the alert, it waits for the next crossing instead of firing straight away.
- You get a notification in the bell. If you turned on the OrionAI email in your profile, you also get an email.
- Widgets built on your private uploads can't be watched yet; alerts on them stay silent.
- Alerts are personal. Anyone who can view a dashboard can set their own alerts on it, and only they are notified.
#Change or remove an alert
Click the bell on the widget again. Change the values and save, or click Remove alert.
If the widget or dashboard is deleted, or you lose access to it, its alerts are removed.
